Accounting Manager – UK accounting Firm | Fully Remote | No UK Experience Required ID-914

As we expand into South Africa, we’re seeking a qualified, experienced accountant (Professional Accountant) to play a key role in this exciting new chapter. This is a rare opportunity to become part of a visionary team and help lay the foundations for our future Cape Town/Western Cape office - an office you’ll have the opportunity to shape and lead as it grows.


You will be working exclusively with UK-based clients, and while no prior UK tax or UK accounting experience is required, we will provide comprehensive training in UK tax and compliance systems. You will work UK business hours (9:00–18:00 SA time), with flexibility as long as client needs and KPIs are met.


We will cover the full cost of any UK-based training or courses required to support you in excelling in this role, including getting you fully up to speed with UK tax regulations and compliance.


You will collaborate closely with the director to develop standard operating procedures and leverage automation, technology, and AI to streamline workflows - freeing up time to focus on higher-value tasks.


Your primary responsibility is to safeguard the director’s time by acting as a gatekeeper and intermediary between the client and the director. You will ensure that only high-value, strategic work with the client is passed onto the director. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a high degree of accountability.

Job Description:

  • Take full responsibility for client communication - meetings, emails, calls - operating autonomously with professionalism and clarity.
  • Provide proactive support to clients, handling their needs
  • Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements and management accounts, providing commercial insights and KPI analysis
  • Advise clients on UK tax matters and undergo training to advise be competent in this area
  • Review junior team members’ work, including financial statements, tax returns, VAT, payroll, self-assessments and bookkeeping
  • Delegate tasks effectively and mentor junior staff, supporting their growth and development
  • Oversee junior KPIs and manage team portfolios to meet revenue and profitability goals
  • Contribute to the development of internal systems, processes, checklists, and automation/AI for greater efficiency
  • Mange monthly invoicing of clients in your portfolio
  • Lead quarterly re-pricing discussions, agree on fees in advance, and handle client billing queries professionally
  • Resolve client issues quickly, including onboarding, tech access, and administrative matters


Requirements:

  • Professional Accountant (SA) qualification (SAIPA)/ or part-qualified CA(SA), with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
  • 3-years post-qualification experience working in an accounting department within a practice is non-negotiable
  • Demonstrated experience in a client-facing role, providing tax/ estate planning advice
  • Strong team management skills with experience reviewing junior staff outputs
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Xero – this is non-negotiable
  • Proficient in financial statement preparation and financial analysis
  • Self-starter with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Tech-savvy and keen to embrace new tools and systems (we are very Tech focused)
  • Willing to learn and be trained in UK tax systems
  • Fluent in English both verbally and written
  • Based in Cape Town or the Western Cape, with an interest in helping establish a local office
