Key Responsibilities:

  • To perform litigious and non-litigious functions on behalf of Legal Aid SA within specified authority parameters and mandates.
  • Conduct litigation with regard to the receipt of summonses/motion applications against Legal Aid SA.
  • Assist the National Operations Department in the compilation of reports to court in terms of section 22 of the Legal Aid South Africa Act.
  • Provide legal advice to the rest of the organisation regarding contractual options, risks, legal implications and litigious matters.

Competencies Required:

  • A relevant tertiary legal qualification, e.g., LLB.
  • Admitted as an attorney after completion of a recognised tertiary legal qualification.
  • Cumulative five (5) years post-admission experience in a corporate legal and/or civil litigation environment.
  • High Court or Magistrate's Court active appearance experience of at least two (2) years prior to the date of the advertisement.
