Sr. Power BI Developer & Engineer - South Africa ID-461
Our client, a global fresh produce distributor, is looking for a Power BI Developer and Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing comprehensive business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The selected candidate must have experience delivering reports to business units, strong proficiency in SQL, Python, DAX or R for data manipulation and analysis. Also, strong experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau and Excel to create compelling and informative visuals.
This is a 3 month contract role with the likelihood of a conversion to Full-Time employee. Candidates must be located in South Africa, working local SAST hours.

Job Requirements:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, architecture, and models to meet ETL and business objectives
- Define and manage a common data domain taxonomy consisting of data domains, specific data types within domains and official sources of data
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to represent the organization's data assets and relationships accurately, considering Azure Data Factory’s capability in data transformation
- Integrate data pipelines with data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms using Azure Data Factory to enable seamless data flow between various systems and platforms to support reporting, analytics, and machine learning initiatives
- Orchestrate and schedule data pipeline workflows, ensuring timely and reliable execution of data processing tasks
- Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline performance while ensuring data accuracy and consistency
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights
- Ensure that visualizations are intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with business requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand objectives but with a focus on technical implementation of data solutions
- Must be able to balance technical back-end data engineering with visualization and reporting
- Utilize data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel to create compelling and informative visuals
- Design and develop end-to-end business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, data integration, and report/dashboard creation
Requirements
- 7+ years experience as an analytics developer/engineer specializing in Power BI
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure design, pipeline development, and cloud technologies
- Data analysis and visualization expertise (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Proficient in utilizing Power Query and DAX
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, and data governance
- Experience with tabular editor 3
- Experience utilizing APIs
- Experience with Azure and other Cloud based platforms
- Hands on experience with Power BI on-premises enterprise data gateways
- Experience with other BI tools (Tableau, Cognos)
- Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data
- Big Data development experience using Hive, Impala, Spark and familiarity with Kafka
- Exposure to machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics and/or applied mathematics
- Exposure to PowerApps and Power Automate is a plus
- Strong understanding of relational and dimensional databases and an ability to query databases to troubleshoot issues in reporting
- Clean User Interface / Dashboard design principles
