<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>The Library Assistant - Circulation greets visitors to the library, creates and maintains patron accounts, checks materials in and out, and performs other related duties.<br><br><strong>Essential Functions<br><br></strong><ul><li>Provides exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. Responds to and resolves patron questions or concerns. </li><li>Greets patrons and maintains a welcoming library atmosphere.</li><li>Checks materials in and out, creates and updates patron accounts, shelves materials, and assists patrons in finding materials.</li><li>Assists patrons with searching the catalog and requesting materials. Provides reader’s advisory and book recommendations.</li><li>Processes and labels new materials; assists with repairs to damaged library materials.</li><li>Assists with book displays to promote library usage.</li><li>Participates in library’s ongoing developmental training program. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Non-Essential Functions<br><br></strong><ul><li>Assists with library programs or outreach events as needed.</li><li>Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as needed.</li><li>Works evenings and weekends as required.</li><li>Performs all other related duties as required.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications: Education and Work Experience<br><br></strong><ul><li>High School diploma; 1-2 years of library or customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge and skills.</li><li>Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and office equipment. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Physical Demands<br><br></strong>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
