Public Administration Trainee | Limited Duration<br><br></strong>There are two full-time, limited duration Public Administration Trainee positions with the Budget and Management team of the Chief Financial Office in the Department of Administrative Services. These positions participate in a work experience/training program with specialization in all aspects of budget preparation and execution. The positions will last until approximately June 30, 2027.<br><br>The Budget and Management (BAM) section is the central budget office for the Executive Branch of state government. BAM staff work with the Governor's Office, Legislative committees, Legislative Fiscal Office staff, and state agencies on fiscal policy, program review, organizational issues, performance management, and the development and monitoring of agency budgets. The section is comprised of eleven analyst positions and two assistant analyst (Public Administration Trainee) positions. Analysts work with state agencies throughout the budget development process and help agencies apply statewide policy to build the Agency Request Budget. They examine agency requests and make recommendations to the Governor for development of the Governor's Budget.<br><br>BAM analysts and Public Administration Trainees represent and explain the Governor's budget recommendations to the Legislature and other groups and work with state agencies in the execution of their budgets. They monitor agency budget performance, approve or deny allotment of agency funds, analyze agency program and staffing requests, and make recommendations on agency requests to the Legislative Emergency Board or Interim Joint Ways and Means Committees.<br><br>For a full review of the position duties, details, and working conditions, please click here.<br><br><strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong>What We Are Looking For<br><br></strong><ul><li>a Bachelor's degree<br><br></li></ul><strong>OR<br><br></strong><ul><li>three years of budget or general administration experience.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Desired Attributes<br><br></strong><ul><li>Your application must reflect knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.</li><li>Effective verbal and written communications skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to conduct analysis, identify problems, and identify areas of improvement.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work under general supervision and work independently.</li><li>Experience with governmental budgeting and/or accounting functions.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Application Details and Instructions<br><br></strong><ul><li>Visit the State of Oregon job opportunities webpage to submit your application.
