SALARY: $94,032.48 to $107,761.44 Annually (Range 58)
LENGTH OF SERVICE: 227 Days per Year/12 Months

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Creative Designer works within the Communications and Intergovernmental Relations Department and is responsible for the conceptualization and implementation of design solutions for internal and external clients of San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS). This position will produce compelling graphic designs for a variety of print and digital media projects and will ensure brand consistency across all design deliverables in alignment with organizational goals, industry trends, and best practices. The Creative Designer will also provide event coverage support that includes photography, videography and social media.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Conceptualizes, designs, and produces visual solutions and high-level graphics for both print and digital projects including brochures, reports, presentations, slide decks, flyers, advertisements, banners, social media graphics, web assets, and event collateral;
· Designs effective and engaging animated graphics and interactive media for broadcast and digital platforms;
· Creates illustrations, layouts, logos, and other visual assets;
· Collaborates with team members and other departments and/or branches to produce designs to support SBCSS programs, events, and activities;
· Supports SBCSS events with photography, videography, and social media coverage;
· Conducts training and presentations;
· Researches current and emerging technologies;
· Supervises and trains staff;
· Performs related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience with developing creative concepts, applying design principles, and incorporating feedback to deliver high-quality graphic designs and visual solutions that align with brand guidelines; print production processes; meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment; managing multiple projects simultaneously;
Skill with industry-standard computer software programs needed for graphic design including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom); standard software programs needed for branded template designs (Marq, etc.) and office operations (OS X, Microsoft Operating Systems, etc.); photography, videography (After Effects, Final Cut Pro, etc.), and social media;
Knowledge of typography, color theory, and design principles to create visually compelling and effective designs; correct grammatical use of spelling, punctuation and sentence structure;
Ability to work independently and cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups; communicate effectively in both written and oral form; exercise sound judgment; understand and prepare digital files for offset digital printing; prioritize and meet deadlines; demonstrate leadership qualities; deliver excellent customer service;
Physical Abilities include sitting for extended periods, lifting, carrying, crawling, reaching, pushing/pulling, fine manual dexterity, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications, or related field;
· Two (2) years experience designing and producing industry standard graphic designs for print materials in a professional setting for clients;
· Two (2) years experience designing and producing industry level graphic designs for digital materials in a professional setting for clients;
· Two (2) years experience providing photography, videography, and social media coverage for professional events;
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience with web design;
· Experience enforcing ADA accessibility standards for print and digital media;
· Experience designing and producing visual collateral for large-scale professional events;
· Experience in a California school district or County Office of Education.
