<strong>Overview<br><br></strong>The Building Services Director is responsible for setting and achieving department strategy, goals and objectives. Additionally, the Director is responsible for establishing efficiency, effectiveness, work flow and systems of the area(s) managed. Management role is for diverse functions or units. The Director oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of the hospital, ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations. The Director role includes staff management, waste disposal and implementing sustainable practices.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Create an oversee department budget and ensure financial goals are met.</li><li>Lead and supervise the environmental services staff, including hiring, training and performance evaluations. </li><li>Collaborate with other departments to ensure a clean work environment. </li><li>Ensure all policies and procedures are in compliance regulatory authorities. </li><li>Ensure the hospital is always prepared for Joint Commission Survey. </li><li>Ensure the Hazardous Waste program is in compliance with all regulatory authorities. </li><li>Develop and implement a strategic plan to improve Press Ganey scores. </li><li>Round daily on all areas of the hospital, and develop tracking tool for issues identified. </li><li>Meet monthly with staff on all shifts.</li><li>Oversee the short and long term deliverables of the department objectives.</li><li>Ensure optimum performance of staff, may operate in a project manager role as needed, coach others, ensure quality of results and output.</li><li>Monitor service Now Tickets to ensure that tickets are closed out timely. </li><li>Full understanding of all chemicals and floor care products. </li><li>Ensure that staff have supplies needed to perform their job. </li><li>Work closely with infection control to ensure that cleaning practices are appropriate. </li><li>Working knowledge of EPIC Bed Tracking System. </li><li>Run reports from EPIC to identify areas of opportunity. </li><li>Knowledge of the 1199 Contract. </li><li>Develop staffing levels for new areas. </li><li>Develop staff through recruiting, orienting, coaching and training. </li><li>Communicate department strategy, goals and objectives. Ensure all staff members are aware of deliverables, policies and programs. </li><li>Lead others that execute plans, programs and the delivery of operational efficiency. </li><li>Provide performance feedback through a formal performance review process, employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary. </li><li>Communicate information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong>Education:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree is required, Masters preferred in hospitality, healthcare or equivalent. Job experience can be used in lieu of education requirements.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Experience<br><br></strong><ul><li>Minimum ten (10) years experience working in Environmental Services, required</li><li>Minimum five (5) years experience in a Manager/Director level role within Environment Services, required.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Knowledge And Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>Strong technical knowledge of the area(s) being managed. May serve as the subject matter expert but typically relies on others under management for subject expertise.</li><li>Ability to establish goals, set priorities, and multi-task.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to prepare and present presentations.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Licenses, Certifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification preferred.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Physical Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Consistent with that necessary to work in a variety of patient care and office settings. </li><li>Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. </li><li>Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.<br><br></li></ul><em>The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and can be modified in the future.
